Chest, Shoulders & Triceps 6:30-7:15am
I didn’t blog over the weekend and here’s why – I didn’t do anything. I’ve been cursed with an insufferable cold this past week and it was only getting worse. The first few days of it I thought I’d try sweating it out, but yesterday I had just suffered enough. So I spent the weekend in bed with hot soup and a box of kleenex.
I’m still sick this morning but I decided to get back at it and start my 2nd month of Classic. I was definitely not expecting the intensity of Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, though – sheesh that’s fierce! I can barely do ten regular push-ups – doing a bunch of wacky ones every third move was killer. I can’t feel my arms. I only did 1/2 hour of the workout, too, before my illness took over and I had to blow my nose and rest. It was fun though! Deadly, but fun. Hopefully when I return from my trip to Canada I’ll be well enough to finish the entire workout.

Core Synergistics – 6:30-7:10am
I had almost forgotten about Core Synergistics. It’s not a main program in Classic like it is in Lean, so when you’re not doing it regularly you forget the moves. I had to pause a few times to get into position.
I only did about half of the program because a) I’m still sick and b) I don’t like Core Synergistics. I know that’s just a lazy excuse, but it is what it is. Hubs has a workout later so maybe I’ll do Ab Ripper with him to make up for my slacker mentality this morning.

Kenpo X - 6:20-7:05am
The other day I contracted some sort of virus, so rather than work out I took the day off. I did do some Yoga X balance poses last night, but I just wasn’t feeling it. This morning I was still sick when I woke up, but rather than languish in bed I decided to do Kenpo X to try and sweat out some of this illness. According to the fitness guide I should have done Kenpo X yesterday and stretched today, so I’m not too far off by doing things a little backwards.
Anyway, I feel great after sweating a bit, but I’m on a cardio high so I’ll probably have to wait another hour or so before I see if it worked at all to get rid of this virus. I know these things are possible, but I don’t know if it’s likely.
Next week I’m flying out of town for ten days. My brother is getting married in the Toronto area so we’re going to spend some time with family. I will probably have neither the space or the freedom to do the P90X workout while there, so I’m going to do it up until we leave, then take two weeks off of the program (I am bringing my fitness gear so I will be doing running and yoga, etc) and probably continue where I left off when I get back.

I had a really horrible day yesterday, and was looking forward to unwinding with some Yoga X, but then the power went out. So hubs and I fell asleep in the dark not having worked out.
This morning the power was back on and my alarm screeched at me at my usual 6am, but I just didn’t feel like doing anything so I went back to bed. I’m not even sure what was on the roster for P90X today. I never bothered to look.
Whatever it is, I’ll do it tonight while hubby runs on the treadmill. Right now I’m just too tired.

This morning was supposed to be Core Synergistics, but instead I did
Shoulders & Arms X – 6:20-7:00am
I’d really like to get a bit of bulk on these arms before I take off to Canada next week. I won’t be able to do much of the weightlifting workouts while there, so I’ll probably end up pausing the whole blog until I return. I’m going to try and get some running in, and maybe find a place to do yoga while traveling… but the X stuff will have to be shelved. Still, I’ll bring the fitness guide and see how much I can do just reading along in my spare time. Were I a single woman i’d bring the DVDs and workout in every hotel room, but with three kids in the same room and visiting family popping in and out, that is impossible.
Anyway, I lifted to failure at 10 reps a few times this morning, just because I’d like to see more definition in my arms. I know chicks typically don’t like to look bulky, but I’m already bulky, so I’d rather look defined and buff while I’m here.

Yoga X – 6:15-6:45am
It’s recovery week – yay! But that means I have mostly cardio and two yogas – boo! I might replace one of the cardio days with another Shoulders & Arms session, just because I’d like to keep building some muscle up in my arms. I have to wear a dress in two weeks and I’d like to show something off with it.
I only did a half hour of Yoga this morning. I started sweating really early in the routine and I got concerned that maybe my blood glucose levels were low. So I skipped out after the twisting chair pose and came downstairs to test myself. But my blood glucose was fine so it turns out I was just particularly sweaty this morning. Oh well.
Hubby is working out later, so I’ll do the balance poses while he’s on the treadmill.

Rest/Stretch X
I am certainly resting and/or stretching today, but I still feel like getting some exercise nonetheless. So I’m going to take the kids swimming and maybe do some Ab Ripper X before bed. We’ll see. I’d also like to do some shoulders & arms again, as mine are horrifically flabby and I’d really like to tone them up for my brother’s wedding in two weeks.

Kenpo X 9:45 – 10:15pm
I did this workout late today. My intention was to take the day off entirely, but after I goofed off and dropped a whopping $300 at Nordstrom I felt like I should kick my own ass, so I popped in the Kenpo X DVD for half an hour and beat up my invisible doppelganger.
Tomorrow is supposed to be Stretch day, but I’m thinking of going for a jog with my marathon-running friends again. I’m setting the alarm for 5:30 and we’ll just see how I feel.

Legs & Back X
I ended up doing 1/2 of Yoga last night. I also did Ab Ripper X yesterday afternoon. So even though I was supposedly on strike yesterday, I still brought it. Once you’re addicted to exercise, it’s hard to avoid doing it.
Legs & Back went well today, although I forgot to wear shoes so I was slipping around the floor a lot just being on the balls of my feet. But I still did good. I felt it the most in my calves during the calf raises, probably because I was holding 15lb weights rather than my usual 6lb weights. I’ll probably have to go back and stretch those calves out a bit better later. (or I’ll use it as an excuse to soak in the hot tub at the gym.)

I’m on strike. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m not losing weight, I’m not gaining muscle, I’m just fat.
fat. fat. fat.
Bah, whatever. I’m taking the morning off to wallow in self-pity, and then I’ll do my Yoga X workout this evening. Hubs still has his workout to do, so I’ll just join him later. For now, I’m curling up in bed with a tea and the world wide web. Maybe somebody else out there feels my pain.
